Mae kuang lake is a big water reservoir which stores water for agriculture and tap water manufacture. The lake is located in doi saket district. Approximately 40 minutes drive from chiang mai city on North-east route 118 chiang mai- chiang rai. Then turn to the left for the lake. Here is one of the most popular lake for chiang mai anglers enjoy fishing &camping lures as well. Chiang Mai Giant Snakehead

I want to express what an enjoyable fishing day I had on Mae Kuang Lake with Mr. Suvit.  I currently live in Bangkok, but have fished throughout Thailand, the USA, Canada, and Belize.  I heard from a friend about the unique lure fishing for Giant Snakehead that Mr. Suvit offers near Chaing Mai, and I had to experience it myself.  This day was like fishing in Canada or the US; big lake, natural fish population, and primarily using lures.  Nowhere in Thailand have I cruised along by boat, casting buzz baits toward the shoreline while mist was rising off a lake.  Mr. Suvit picked me up at my hotel before dawn, and except to break for a marvelous lunch overlooking the lake, we fished until dark.  Although he told me I was not fishing during the prime season, it was not long before I was into my first fish.  We had good fishing and nice conversation the entire day.  I should mention he can guide for carp and catfish as well.  I chose to fish only for Giant Snakehead, and I highly recommend this trip with Mr. Suvit.
