Nesting Snakehead
This is a "Nesting Snakehead"—or what we in Thailand call "Chado Kat Rang" (Nest-Biting Snakehead).
At this stage, they develop intense spawning colors and use their jaws to bite and clear vegetation to build their nests. They are incredibly aggressive and ready to defend their territory against anything!
HOW GIANT SNAKEHEADS BUILD THEIR NESTS
When building a nest, both the male and female giant snakehead work as a team. They bite and gather aquatic grass and small twigs, piling them together to form a floating structure.
It is important to know that this is not a bed or a place for them to sleep. The nest is built purely to support the weight of their floating eggs and keep the spawn together in one safe spot |
